Sweet Grandmother Lewis turned 92 on September 27th. She loves to celebrate her birthday with her daughters and daughter-in-laws. We all love and adore her and we enjoyed a sweet few days together honoring a lovely mother. I feel renewed and inspired by her life and by all my sisters. Thank you all for making the sacrifice to be together.

Duraye and I worked on Mom's Birthday Dinner together. We missed Durelle who couldn't come at the last minute as she felt promptings from the spirit she wasn't to go.

We attended the temple early Tuesday morning and then visited the family home at 721 W. Portland in Phoenix. Myreel & Malin Lewis (Grandma & Grandpa Lewis) moved into the home in 1967 after moving from Ajo. Many of their children grew up in this home. When they left on their mission in 1982, our family moved in, just before Vivi was born. When we moved in 1987 to West Phoenix, Delon and Clyde moved in. The house was bought and sold several times since. The present owners were generous to let us come in and spend an hour reminiscing and seeing the many updates that have been made.
They showed us a letter that Grandpa Lewis had written about the grist mill stone that was in the fireplace. Dantzelle is reading the letter that is framed.
Grandma is a good missionary and she presented Beau and Jessica with a copy of the Book of Mormon, with some history of the home written inside.

It wouldn't be a complete trip to Arizona without Mexican food. A nearby restaurant, La Azteca, owned by friends Felix and Minerva Lopez, is a favorite spot.
After stopping by Mom's home at 1115 W. Edgemont, and visiting with her neighbor, we met up with a lovely friend, Marlene Little, who has been a good friend of Mom's for many years. Marlene has written hundreds of missionaries since she was converted in 1994. Mom presented her with a beautiful picture of the Mesa temple.

Each of the sisters shared a presentation from what they teach in
Seminary; power point highlights from a special book on the atonement; an array
of the collection of info of Grandma Esther Lewis’ paintings; crafts
including chocolates, helpful hints, a book that inspired one to have greater gratitude, and I shared about Crismon being called as a stake president. As Mom said, "It was a day
filled with hope, joy, righteousness, and bonding of love for one another."

I appreciate and love Mom Lewis so much. She is an incredible woman of faith and one who endures to the end. I hope I can always follow her example.
