Beach trip with the Caudle children

Tuesday morning, Aug. 18th, we said our goodbyes to the Johns Family. We're so glad they could stay with us for a few days. Then we began to pack to go to the Beach with the Caudle children. Vivi had a huge assignment as a counselor in the Stake Primary to organize all the meals for the Helaman Camp, (nearly a week camp for the cub scouts.) She had her hands full planning that, buying all the food and cooking that week. Although Vivi lives the closest to me of all the girls, I think I actually help her the least with her children. We offered to take the children for a couple of days to give her a break and some time along to focus on the preparations for the Helaman Camp.

The children were very good and we had a delightful time with them. Lori & Michael Fryar, our good friends that live just down the hill from us have offered their beach home any time we wanted to use it. That was a blessing to have free housing. We were about a 10 minute drive from the beach. I was pretty tired from the wedding, so Crismon was good to make it so fun for the children. We stopped for ice cream cones and to see the Tillamook Cheese Factory before going on to Garibaldi. Fortunately, the weather wasn't too bad. We headed home on Wednesday evening. Vivi mentioned the next day that the children said, "It was the best day of their lives." We were so glad we could give them that treat. Clark, especially loved the ocean and although it was freezing cold, he didn't seem to mind. They played and played on the beach and loved every minute of it.
